Track & Field Participates in Knight Invite & Erme Relays on Friday

The Central Catholic boys’ and girls’ track & field teams competed in a pair of local meets on Friday as the regular season is quickly coming to an end.  The boys’ squad participated in the Knight Invitational at LaValley Field on the campus of St. Francis De Sales School, while the girls’ team took part in the Nancy Ermes Relays at Whitmer Memorial Stadium on the campus of Whitmer High School.

The boys’ squad captured 2 1st-place finishes and placed in the Top 3 in 6 events, while the girls’ squad tallied 1 1st-place finish and landed in the Top 3 in 3 events.

Individually, sophomore Victor Singleton, Jr. finished 1st in the long jump (21-5), while junior Nyla King crossed the line ahead of the competition in the 200-meter dash (25.08).

In relays, sophomore Jerome Davis, senior Jaylen Watson, sophomore Ian Smith, and sophomore Jayse Daniels were members of the victorious 4×100-meter race (43.10).

The Fighting Irish will return to the track for the Eagle Invitational on Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m. on the campus of Clay High School.
