Fighting Irish Twosome Collect All-Ohio Accolades

Central Catholic girls’ basketball players Brooklyn Vaughn and Corniya Clay recently collected All-Ohio Division II recognition, according to the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.  Vaughn was named 2nd-team All-Ohio, while Clay was tabbed special mention all-state.

The OPSWA was created in 1972 to support, promote, and recognize coverage of high school sports across Ohio and is endorsed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

A senior, Vaughn is garnering all-state laurels for the 3rd-straight year.  The 5-foot-11 forward averaged 14.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game in 2023-24, totaling 14 double-doubles. She wrapped up her high school career with 1,074 points and 1,003 boards.

A fellow senior, Clay earned All-Ohio honors for the 2nd-consecutive season. The 5-foot-5 guard contributed 14.4 points and 2.9 assists per contest this past winter.

Vaughn and Clay helped the Scarlet & Gray post an 18-8 overall ledger in 2023-24, including an 8-1 mark in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).  CCHS advanced to the CHSL Central Division Championship Game.
