Softball Defeats Rival Notre Dame Academy in CHSL Cardinal Division Championship, 10-2

The Central Catholic softball team defeated rival Notre Dame Academy, 10-2, on Monday in the Catholic High School League Cardinal Division Championship Game at Madonna University. With the neutral-site victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 13-10 on the season.

Junior RHP Ella Schuberg registered 19 strikeouts in the circle to collect the complete-game win, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 walks.

Offensively, 4 members of the Scarlet & Gray produced multiple-hit efforts against the Eagles, highlighted by 4 hits from sophomore MacKenzie Coleman.  Schuberg also helped her own cause at the plate, finishing with 3 hits. 

Under the direction of 1st-year Head Coach Cory Bryan, CCHS scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning, 3 in the 5th, and 4 in the 6th frame to win the rubber match vs. crosstown rival NDA.  The 2 squads split a CHSL doubleheader on May 4 at Notre Dame Academy.  Central Catholic won the opener 3-1, while Notre Dame emerged victorious on the 2nd game, 9-7.

The Fighting Irish will wrap up their 2024 season vs. Clay on Wednesday, May 15 at 5 p.m. at the Oregon Recreation Department.
