Staffulty Member Patrice Brock Receives Excellence in Teaching Award
Patrice Brock, science teacher and girls’ lacrosse head coach at Central Catholic High School, has received the Excellence in Teaching Award through the Catholic High School League (CHSL). The award winners are recognized for their ability to inspire students and foster a love of learning. The award also acknowledges teachers who actively participate in school events, support their colleagues, and go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students and families.
Each school in the CHSL selects an Excellence in Teaching award winner to recognize their consistent efforts in touching the hearts, souls, and minds of students. All of the nominees are presented their award at The Corner Ballpark (the former Tiger Stadium) before the 2025 Baseball Championship on Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m.
“Receiving the Excellence in Teaching Award is very humbling because I am blessed to teach alongside so many dedicated and highly skilled educators,” Brock said. “Doing the work we do is a calling more than just a job. Every day, we get the chance to inspire the next generation to discover and follow their dreams. Not many people can say that!”
“Patrice is an exemplary teacher who has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of students,” said Central Catholic Principal Morgan Connors. “She is also a trusted mentor and instructional coach for our new teachers, so her effect on learning goes well beyond her own classroom. Patrice is incredibly deserving of this award, and we are fortunate to have her at CCHS.”
The candidates for the Excellence in Teaching Award are then nominated for the Bishop John Quinn High School Teacher of the Year Award. This award highlights a teacher’s dedication, innovation, and positive impact on students and the school community.
